Our committee is elected at our Annual General Meeting, held in March of each year.

Louise Hewitt, chair
Louise has been chairperson since March 2007 having arrived from Manchester in December '06. She has been playing korf for 5 years for Manchester KC, where she was also Social Secretary and Child Protection Officer. Aside from Korfball she also plays tennis and football in addition to watching any sport going. While residing in Wellington, Louise's aim is to spread the korfball word and hope that she can encourage as many folk as possible to get as much fun as she has out of playing this wonderful game.

Phil Borkin, secretary
Philip started playing korfball in 2006 when a work colleague suggested he should try it. He enjoys korfball because of its fast past nature and the testing skills it requires. As a former rugby player Philip often finds it difficult to adjust to the no contact rules of korfball but he enjoys the challenge, particularly when he has to mark someone shorter, but twice as fast has him!

Alastair Smith, treasurer
Ali has a passion for giving everything a go at least once, and korfball has just stuck. He enjoys the challenge of learning a new sport which calls upon skills picked up in the past. He’s tackled soccer, waterpolo, touch rugby, cricket and indoor netball. “Meeting new people and doing something that’s not yet main stream, it’s just a blast!”

Craig Wilkinson, coach

Tim Asby, assistant coach

Dasha Leonova and Dan Gyles, social
Dan has played korfball since 7th form at Wellington College, in cahoots with Wellington Girls' College girls. He had the honour of travelling to Australia and Asia with the national team in '06. He enjoys korfball as it is a top way of keeping the body in shape for his 'other' sports - hockey, cricket, basketball and soccer...except for pub-nights, social events, and tournament after-parties...

Mike Oppenheim, competitions liaison coordinator
Mike has had a life long love of sports having played a variety of sports including cricket, basketball, touch rugby, tennis, soccer… the list goes on! He was introduced to korfball in 2004 and found it provided him with all the characteristics that he enjoyed in the previous sports he played.

Raewyn Tse, league and competition officer
Rae got involved with Korfball at its inception in Welly in 2004 after seeing an ad in a local paper. Since then her roles within the club have included social secretary, marketing & recruitment and now as league co-ordinator. Her previous sporting experience is diverse and includes both indoor and outdoor netball and soccer, touch rugby and cricket. Her passion for Korfball is due to its challenging nature – sometimes the ball just doesn’t wanna go through the basket!
