Korfball is basically a ball sport from the same family as netball and basketball. The ball is passed around by hand and the objective is to score goals by throwing the ball through a basket.

Korfball differs to these other popular sports in a few important ways:
- korfball is designed to be a mixed sport
- guys and girls compete on an even basis
- it promotes all-around skills
- it's great for people of all sizes
- it doesn't matter how fit you are.

The main difference between korfball and other sports is that you can't score when you are being defended. The whole idea of the game is to create opportunities for your team mates to get into space, lose their opponent and shoot for goal.

Korfball is generally an indoor sport but can be played outside on grass, sand or volcanoes. Basically all you need is some mates, a korfball post and a ball and you're ready to go.
